I have been watching the news every day, and one thing has really confused me.
A Google News search for biodiesel shows a constant stream of articles on the subject. Some of my favorites:
- Biodiesel Competes With High Gas Prices
- Home Grown Energy
- Buses Bank on Biodiesel To Cut Costs
- Law To Boost Biofuel Makers
- Investor Interest in Alternative Energy Running High
- Wanted: Info on Publicly Traded Biodiesel Stocks
Biodiesel has fascinated me for over a year now. A friend introduced me to the technology, and I have been watching it ever since.
I have even been working on my own biodiesel company.
Why hasn’t anyone mentioned investing in this fledgling industry? Isn’t this the ideal time, when it is poised for rapid growth?
Now that the Bush energy bill has passed, big oil has a tax incentive to blend biofuels in with their petroleum products. Am I the only one that thinks it is just a matter of time before this industry takes off?

We too are very interested in biodiesel and are wondering the same thing- why aren’t more people showing an interest especially if this leads to a decrease in dependence on foreign oil! We’re conducting a feasibility study along with a business plan of our own.

I to am interested in finding/ investing in start up companies for Biodiesel/E85. It just seems like these are the next thing. I have no information about them and am too confused on the lack of publicly traded companies with a history. Is the technology that new in the States that no company is making money off of this yet?

Hi Zachary,
There are a number of publicly traded companies in those sectors but many of them have no history. Frankly, many of them can’t have a history because the industry as a whole is very new and more and more companies are getting into the game based on their peceived growth opportunities.

I have been interested in Biodiesel for a while and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of one of the best companies that are evolving Biodiesel. Some of friends are really into Biodiesel but what company would be the best investment.

Hi
How are you biodiesel plans coming on?
Im trying to get funding to set up a biodiesel operation in Zambia. and struggling to get finance.
One of the biggest problems in the industry in my view is the large public companies are doing a lot of talking, but very little work on the ground. I know of listed companies claiming to have huge areas planted, but they dont even own the land, and noone in the area has heard of them!
Surely the people on the ground, growing the crop should be getting the finance to increase yields, and produce more oil crops?

I have been following boidiesel for about two years. I believe there has been little public interest because the trend toward green energy was started way back when soy prices rose. The move is constant but slow. For years the fed govt has given cities initiatives to green up but only recently (global warming) has gotten our attention as a nation. All other countries, especially Asia have acknowledged that we need to redefine where we get our energy from and how it affects the planet. You know how the govt works..20 year plans. Alexander is right-there is little history-it’s a fledgling industry. Anybody heard of the National Biodiesel Board? It has a website, you can join for free. There’s lots of info but not on starting a biodiesel oper.
